Family Fun Fall Sports League

Preschool - 5th grade

Weinstein JCC Sports & Rec staff will introduce participants to different sports and activities throughout this 8-week program. This is a great way to introduce your child to a multitude of sports and activities in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The first half of the day will be games and activities for the kids and then we will encourage families to join in on the fun! (But not required.

Intro to Ballet - Sara Ruppel Bullis

October 16 - April 15

Intro to Ballet I classes combine stories and music in a child-friendly setting to help students develop body/spatial awareness, rhythm, flexibility, balance, coordination, memorization skills, and confidence. Students will be introduced to beginning ballet technique and learn basic ballet terminology. The Dance Recital will be held April 21, 2024.

Preschool Yoga

Preschool Gymnastics

Preschool

In this class, children will be introduced to the joy of body movement and awareness through gymnastics, fitness exercises, and educational motor development games. Children will develop flexibility, strength, coordination, and balance.

Mommy & Me Dance

October 19-November 30

Thursdays @ 10:00AM - 10:40AM

Ages 2-3 with an accompanying adult

Class will consist of music and movement designed to introduce children to dance in a social setting. We will work on large movement skills, following directions, using our imagination and so much more. Child must be accompanied by a parent or relative 16 years of age or older. (Class is not for children currently enrolled in WJCC preschool.)

Preschool Playtime

October 19 – December 14

Thursdays, 1:00 PM-1:30 PM

Ages: Preschool

This is a great way for your little one to be silly and get their wiggles and giggles out! This extracurricular class will introduce your child to various sports, but they will also use their imagination to explore various skills, including spatial awareness, stability, locomotor, and object control.

Beginner Hip-Hop

October 19-April 18

Thursdays; times vary

Ages 3-5

This full-year class is designed for boys and girls to express creative movement and learn the basics of hip hop dance. Children will focus on basic technique and skills, as well as learning choreography. Each class is a fun way to listen and move to the beats of hip hop and classic children’s music. The Dance Recital will be held April 21, 2024.

Fall Festival at Camp Hilbert

Sunday, October 22

Spend a day enjoying the great outdoors at beautiful Camp Hilbert! Whether you want to reunite with fellow Camp Hilbert buddies or check out the camp for the first time, everyone will have fun with live entertainment, outdoor games, arts and crafts, face painting, moon bounces and canoeing and kayaking on Lake Rosalie!

Great Beginnings: A Play Group for Parents and Children

Join this fun class to learn the practice of yoga through games, stories, poses, and mindfulness exercises all taught in a fun peaceful environment.

Parent and Child Aquatics Level 1

October - December

Sundays & Thursdays

6 months – 3 years

Level 1 introduces basic skills to parents and children. Parents learn how to safely work with their child in the water, including how to appropriately support and hold their child in the water and how to prepare and encourage their child to participate fully and try the skills. Children receive an introduction to basic skills that lay a foundation for learning to swim. In addition, parents are introduced to several water safety topics.

Parent and Child Aquatics Level 2

October 15 - December 10

1.5 - 3 years

Parent and Child Aquatics Level 2 builds on the skills introduced in Level 1. Participants improve on these skills and learn more advanced skills in Level 2. As with Level 1, water safety topics are also included in this level.

Preschool Aquatics Level 1

Level 1 orients children to the aquatic environment and helps them gain basic aquatics skills. These skills include entering and exiting the water, blowing bubbles through mouth and nose, submerging mouth, nose and eyes, opening eyes underwater and retrieving submerged objects, front and back gliding, back floating, rolling from front to back and back to front, treading water, alternating and simultaneous arm and leg actions on front and back,

Preschool Aquatics Level 2

October - December

Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays

3 - 5

Level 2 helps children gain greater independence in their skills and develop more comfort in and around water. Skills to be taught include entering and exiting the water, bobbing, opening eyes underwater and retrieving submerged objects, front floating, back gliding and floating,
rolling from front to back and back to front, treading water using arms and legs, combining arm and leg actions on front and back, finning arm action on back and age-appropriate water safety skills.

Preschool Aquatics Level 3

October - December

Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays

3 - 5

Preschool Level 3 helps children start to gain basic swimming propulsive skills to be comfortable in and around water. Skills to be taught include entering the water, fully submerging, and holding breath in the water, bobbing, rotary breathing, front, jellyfish, and tuck floating, front
and back floating or gliding with recoveries, changing direction of travel while swimming on front and back, finning arm action on back and age-appropriate water safety topics.
