Fitness: Workouts for Every Age & Ability

If you’re looking for a first-class fitness facility with a range of programs, then welcome to the Weinstein JCC! Our facility offers the latest equipment, impeccably kept pools and even multiple basketball courts. Our classes range from Pilates to Les Mills to deep water aerobics. And you can get all the fitness advice you need from our highly skilled personal trainers.

Fitness Facilities

At the Weinstein JCC, we’re committed to bringing our members top-level fitness facilities at a great price. Take a tour of our Fitness Center, and see the latest equipment for all of your fitness needs, like TRUE treadmills with 16 inch Envison Touchscreens, Precor® ellipticals, AMTs, Matrix upright, hybrid, and recumbent bicycles. Try our Octane Lateral X trainers, LifeFitness® Ellipticals, recumbent NuSteps, and Step Mills or hit the weight room featuring Cybex Eagle Resistive Equipment along with plate-loading free weights and state-of-the-art cable equipment.

 

The Fitness Center equipment features the latest technology, including built in televisions, fans and wifi along with larger screen televisions spread throughout the facility. Babysitting services are also available.

Track your fitness, set goals, compete in challenges, and get special deals on personal training and massages. You can also check gym times, Group Exercise class times and locations, and swim schedules. The app is available in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Fitness Classes

Aimed at providing an improved health and wellness experience for all members, our Fitness Center is filled with a unique variety of people and purposes. With our state-of-the-art fitness and strength equipment, friendly personal trainers and an extensive array of group exercise and mind/body classes, our Fitness Center helps to motivate, inspire and keep members of all ages and fitness levels feeling their best. Indoor Triathlon


A fun running, biking and swimming competitive race for any exerciser, to take place inside the Weinstein JCC. Using the pool, spin bikes and Cybex treadmills, participants will swim 800 yards, bike 12 miles and run 3 miles. Limited to 16 participants. For additional training, the Center offers personal trainers and swim instructors to work one-on-one weekly with a racer. Family Yoga - Winter


This yoga class offers families an opportunity to bond through the practice of yoga poses and mindfulness teachings. Your family will get in shape while learning how to best support and honor each other, on and off the yoga mat.

balanced wellness - Winter


Do you want to feel better physically, mentally and emotionally? Set goals and reach them in this 10-week session. You will see results! You will feel better! This 10-week session meets twice a week for high intensity workouts that are customized to each person’s fitness ability. You will also meet one-on-one each week with a Wellness Coach to discuss accountability for goals. Nutrition awareness, fitness and body assessments will be performed at start and end of the session to show how much you have improved.

Intro to Meditation - Winter


“What is meditation? Why would I want to do it? I’ve tried, but my mind just races, and I end up giving up. Meditation is just not for me.”

Perhaps you have heard yourself saying something like this. In this 8-week course, we will demystify this ancient science and learn the fundamentals of establishing a successful practice. We will learn the importance of breath and how it relates to the stress in our lives. We will learn how small changes can
make a big difference in how we relate to ourselves and the world around us.

This course is for everyone and no prior experience is necessary.

Meditation - Winter


*Prerequisite Intro to Meditation or approval by instructor

In this class, we will continue to deepen our practice. In this 10 week session, we will experience Yoga Nidra, a state of deep relaxation, providing our body and mind the optimal opportunity to conduct its important maintenance and repair work. We will work with our breath through Pranayama, the vital link in calming the mind and then go into our Meditation practice. A Meditation cushion is recommended or if you require a chair, one will be provided.

Tai Chi - Winter


This program is for anyone who has some tai chi experience and wants to improve their physical, emotional and spiritual balance. Based on yang style tai chi, this class is easy on your joints and has an emphasis on balance, agility, breathing and inner peacefulness. No equipment or special gear required—just comfortable clothes.

Itty Bitty Yogis Parent/Child - Winter


Our 8-week yoga-play curriculum balances bodies and brains as children discover yoga through yoga-inspired games, stories, poses, and mindfulness exercises. The three pillars of our program are fitness, focus and fun, with an emphasis on the fun!

The WELL (formerly Small Group Training)


Get your workout therapy at The WELL! Full-body workouts designed to build strength and endurance, using the energy of the group and the expertise of certified instructors to maximize your results. 

The WELL offers 3 styles:

  • Strength: Whole body strength training using Kettlebells and TRX to develop balance, flexibility and core stability. 
  • Performance: High intensity interval training sessions that will mix cardio and strength training in both circuit and group style classes.
  • Power: High intensity strength and conditioning sessions involving cardio, weight training, body weight and core exercises.

Pilates Reformer Training


Improve your overall strength, flexibility, coordination and balance with this unique workout. Learn better posture and more efficient movement, and experience relief from pain associated with physical imbalances. This program focuses on the muscles of the core creating flat abs, strong backs and toned glutes and thighs. Minding the Mat - Spring ~ NEW!


This 8-week series of classes is a hybrid blend of Pilates, yoga, and fitness that emphasizes core strength and body alignment. Taught by master Pilates Instructor, Karen Roodman, focus will be placed on abdominal and back strength, pelvic stability, hip mobility, and postural awareness. Karen holds a master’s in Kinesiology and has a science-infused teaching style that will help participants understand and practice ideal alignment, form, and function. Pilates props including, foam rollers, light weights, resistance bands, rings, and balls, will be incorporated to diversify and amplify this dynamic mat experience that can adapted to suit individual abilities.

Acu-Yoga and Reflexology - Spring


This class uses yoga with acupressure for pain relief in this new approach to an ancient practice that creates a balanced, pain-free body. Using ideas from Integrated Positional Therapy by Lee Albert, participants will learn the benefits of asana (stretching), pranayama (breathing) and meditation and how to have better posture and muscle balance. The class includes the following practices: Warmups, Daily Stretches, Asanas, Qi Gong (more energy), Reflexology (feet and hands) and
Acupressure.

The goal of this session is to create an individual practice which is fun and helps with general well-being while learning individualized stretches to help with hip, back and knees. This class is suitable for all body types and will be performed in both standing and seated positions.

Plyo-Strength for Kids


Come join this 6-week session of plyometrics and strength training led by our certified personal trainer who specializes in youth fitness. These high intensity strength and conditioning sessions involve cardio and weight training through body weight and core exercises.

Krav Maga


Krav Maga is a self-defense system developed for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that combines practical techniques from other fighting styles like aikido, judo, boxing and wrestling. Students will experience first-hand their own power, strength and resilience in a safe and disciplined atmosphere.

NEW Virtual Cycle Classes

These new classes are completely FREE for Weinstein JCC fitness members. Classes will be at scheduled times each week (listed below) and taught on the new projection system in the cycle studio. There will not be an instructor for these classes. Classes are bike at your own risk, for ages 18+, and limited to 16 members. First come first serve. Please contact Allison Snyder for more information.  

For beginners, make sure to check out our fitness video about how to adjust your bike, created by one of our cycle instructors, so that you're ready to ride when you head to class! And please read the rules sign as you enter the Cycle Studio to ensure class is safe and enjoyable for all participants.
