Fitness: Workouts for Every Age & Ability

If you’re looking for a first-class fitness facility with a range of programs, then welcome to the Weinstein JCC! Our facility offers the latest equipment, impeccably kept pools and even multiple basketball courts. Our classes range from Pilates to Les Mills to deep water aerobics. And you can get all the fitness advice you need from our highly skilled personal trainers.

Friday:
  • 5:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Saturday–Sunday:
  • 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

Fitness Facilities

At the Weinstein JCC, we’re committed to bringing our members top-level fitness facilities at a great price. Take a tour of our Fitness Center, and see the latest equipment for all of your fitness needs, like Cybex® treadmills, Precor® crosstrainers, AMTs, upright Matrix and recumbent bicycles. Try our Cybex Arc Trainers, LifeFitness® Ellipticals and Step Mills or hit the weight room featuring Cybex Eagle Resistive Equipment along with plate-loading free weights and state-of-the-art cable equipment.

The Fitness Center equipment features the latest technology, including built in televisions, fans and wifi along with larger screen televisions spread throughout the facility. Babysitting services are also available.

Fitness Classes

Aimed at providing an improved health and wellness experience for all members, our Fitness Center is filled with a unique variety of people and purposes. With our state-of-the-art fitness and strength equipment, friendly personal trainers and an extensive array of group exercise and mind/body classes, our Fitness Center helps to motivate, inspire and keep members of all ages and fitness levels feeling their best. Mommy and Me Yoga - NEW!


Mommy & Me Yoga provides a comfortable, supportive environment where moms can meet other moms and create special bonding time with their babies. This class offers moms the opportunity to regain strength and muscle tone as well as alleviate neck, shoulder, and back pain through exploration of movement in yogic postures with their baby. Prior yoga experience is not necessary.

CarryBean - Babywearing Fitness for Moms - NEW!


Richmond, Virginia’s first and only babywearing fitness class. This is a 40-minute scalable fitness class that includes cardio, strengthening, toning and stretching, all while wearing your infant or toddler in a baby carrier. The class provides a flexible solution to working out and simultaneously meeting your child’s needs.

Not only will you get a great workout, but your baby will also benefit while being worn during class:

  • Babies love movement, the cardio movement will help to calm them or even put them to sleep
  • Babies will learn to shift weight with you while you move, enhancing their motor skills
  • Babies will receive vestibular input which is key to development of body and spatial awareness

Moms must be cleared by their doctor to resume activity. Please bring your own carrier. This class is done with bare feet.

Nia MOVE IT


Nia is a group fitness experience blending movement forms from martial arts, dance and healing arts with fantastic musical soundscapes. Nia MOVE IT classes use the 52 moves of Nia in an interval training class to bring about integrative fitness (mind/body/ emotion/spirit). Heather Umberger, a Nia Brown Belt teacher, will coach you to reach greater conditioning goals (aerobic, anaerobic, reflexive, and voluntary) and encourage you to reach your experience of “enough” multiple times per class in this fun, creative, and high energy movement experience. All levels of fitness are welcome and no dance experience is necessary.

Tai Chi - Meditation in Motion


This program is for anyone who wants to improve their physical, emotional and maybe spiritual balance. The design of this program has been proven to help people with arthritis and fibromyalgia by reducing joint pain and stiffness, improving balance, reducing falls, and to building up cardio-vascular function, muscle strength and stamina. Despite its famous super-slow, body moves, it will give you a workout and it belongs to that group of exercises designed for “fascia fitness.”

Based on sun style tai chi, it is different from some tai chi forms you might be familiar with. It’s kinder to your joints and its emphasis is on balance, agility, breath work and inner calm. Most of all, it is about becoming more aware of and more connected to one’s body. No equipment or special gear required—just comfortable clothes and a good pair of socks. You don’t have to have arthritis to benefit and anybody can learn to do it.

Balanced Wellness


Do you want to feel better physically, mentally and emotionally" Set goals and reach them in this 10-week session. You will see results! You will feel better! Find the balanced YOU!

This 10-week session meets twice a week for high intensity workouts that are customized to each person’s fitness ability. You will also meet one-on-one each week with a Wellness Coach to discuss accountability for goals. Nutrition awareness, fitness and body assessments will be performed at start and end of the session to show how much you have improved.

Small Group Training

Small Group Training (SGT) is now offered at the Weinstein JCC! In these group sessions, workouts will challenge participants of all fitness levels with personal attention and modifications provided by trainers. These sessions provide a cost-effective way for members to experience the benefits of working with a fitness professional while having fun too. Training will include HIIT - Tabata (High-Intensity Interval Training), Kettlebells, Circuit Training and more. Pick up your copy of the class calendar at the Center for all class times and descriptions, and make sure to bring your completed Participant Waiver when you stop by for your first class! Pilates Reformer Training
