Windows of Light
Every Menorah Has a Story. What’s Yours?
This Chanukah season, the Weinstein JCC invites you to become part of The Legacy Project—a new community initiative preserving the stories of Jewish life, one treasured object at a time.
We are seeking family menorahs with meaningful histories to be featured in our inaugural gallery exhibition, Windows of Light. Whether your menorah has been passed down through generations, traveled across continents, celebrated decades of Chanukah celebrations, or simply represents a cherished family tradition, we want to help tell its story.
Each submitted menorah will be displayed in our secure, locked gallery cases alongside the story that makes it uniquely yours. Together, these ritual objects will create a living tapestry of Richmond’s Jewish community, celebrating the resilience, traditions, and memories that continue to illuminate our lives.
All menorahs will be carefully cared for and returned either:
- Prior to Chanukah, so they may continue to be used in your family’s holiday celebration, or
- Following a special Community First Night Chanukah Candle Lighting, recognizing the enduring spirit of Jewish tradition through both the objects we preserve and the rituals we continue to practice.
Help us preserve our community’s legacy.

We can’t wait to hear the story behind your menorah.
