Technion, one of the world’s leading technological research institutions, opened in 1924 on Haifa’s Mt. Carmel. The school’s 100-year history paralleled and invigorated the growth of the State of Israel. Modern-day Israel, with its strong economy and scientific and technological achievements, owes a great deal to Technion. Meet the visionaries who began and grew this institution.
Talkback Speaker: Irv Elenberg
Irv Elenberg is the executive director of development for the American Technion Society, also known as ATS. He is celebrating his 20th year with ATS.
He personally works with hundreds of donors and lay leaders throughout the mid-Atlantic region. He also supervises colleagues and territories across the country. His passion is to help Israel survive and thrive, by fulfilling what Maimonides called the highest level of giving, helping people gain employment. He feels that supporting the Technion’s students allows them to build successful careers, often creating job opportunities for others.
Irv is a graduate of The Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania. He volunteers with Big Brothers, and organizes and plays in a weekly adult football game. Along with his fiance’ Dana, he lives in Arlington, VA and belongs to Temple Rodef Shalom. He is the proud father of three adult children and proud Zayde of one.
