Teen Camps (Grades 7-12): Service & Adventure

Our teen camps are for youth in grades 7-12 and are geared towards helping campers develop leadership abilities through service, adventure, learning and fun.

Camp Hilbert Peer Camper

Grades: 10 - 12

Peer Campers participate in the full Camp Hilbert experience while working directly with a child with different abilities. As a Peer Camper, you will have the opportunity to learn valuable skills and the ability to work alongside our dynamic camp staff. Teen volunteers play a vital

Voices Together Peer Camper

Teen volunteers play an enormous role in making Voices Together the premier summer program for children on the Autism Spectrum in Richmond. As a Peer Camper at Voices Together, you will enjoy being part of a full day camp program, while having an incredible experience

Counselors In Training (CIT)

Grades: 9 & 10

Our Counselors in Training (CIT) Program is a skill development camp for those entering 9th and 10th grade who would like to experience leadership, staffing and teamwork while enjoying time for social interaction. Our CITs participate in teambuilding and leadership training as they experience a summer they will never forget. CITs must commit to a two-week session and we strongly encourage participants to spend all four weeks with us to get the full CIT experience. Each week the program will focus on a new set of skills and development topics. Our program is cumulative, so the lessons are progressive from 9th to 10th grade. This program is designed to help prepare this group as they transition to independence as they age out of the Camp world.
First year CIT (9th grade) includes:
  • Orientation/training
  • Volunteer hours with organizations around the community
  • Volunteer with JCC Camps
  • First aid/CPR training and certification
  • Diversity training
  • Job prep/application/resume training
  • Leadership skills/development workshops and training
  • Hiking trip/Challenge Discovery ropes course (subject to change)
  • Travel 2-day overnight to Owing Mills, MD (Six Flags, Orioles tour, etc.) (subject to change)
  • Field trips (Busch Gardens, paintball, archery and more)
  • Late night survival skills/dinner
  • Stipend/participation certificates
  • Mock interview

SECOND year CIT Program (10th grade) includes:

  • Limited training
  • Diversity training
  • Volunteer hours with organizations around the community
  • Hiking trip/Challenge Discovery ropes course
  • Group assignment at Camp Ganim and Camp Hilbert
  • Late night leadership service project: dinner prep & serve
  • Field trips (Busch Gardens, paintball, archery and more)
  • Travel 2-day overnight to Owing Mills, MD (Six Flags, Orioles tour, etc.) (subject to change)
  • Stipend/completion certificate
  • Mock Interview

Ganim Volunteer Corps (GVC)

Grades: 7 - 12

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
GVC is designed to help participants meet their schools’ community service requirements while still having an exciting, fun and meaningful time at camp. Each participant will be placed in a Camp Ganim group to assist the counselors and will have the opportunity to learn valuable skills working with children. For more information or to apply, please contact Lily Ocasio at 545-8615 or
