Tzedek Box Opening at the Virginia Holocaust Museum

Tzedek Box opening
Virginia Holocaust Museum
2000 E Cary St, Richmond, VA 23224

Event is being postponed. More details will be announced later.

Middle Schoolers from a variety of synagogues and schools across the community came together at the Weinstein JCC to form their own concepts of Tikkun Olam while responding to this year’s Global Day of Jewish theme of “rebuilding.”

Based on the concept of HUC rabbinical student Dr. Andrew Kaplan Mandel, students created interactive Tzedek Boxes in which reflections of acts of Tikkun Olam are recorded and submitted on an ongoing basis. The Tzedek Boxes were included as an interactive part of the Weinstein JCC’s Global Day of Jewish Learning event and were later moved to the Virginia Holocaust Museum.  In the spring we will gather to ceremonially open the Tzedek Boxes to read the submitted reflections and acts of Tikkun Olam, highlighting the importance of each righteous act, while encouraging future reflection and action.
