The Weinstein JCC Aquatics Department brings you more than just swimming pools. We bring you a sense of community in a place where you and your family can get involved in learning water activities and more. Elements of this program are open to both members and non-members.

The Weinstein JCC has dozens of swim classes for all ages and all levels of skill. Our highly qualified instructors can make enjoying the water part of your family’s life. One-on-One Water Fitness Sessions


Meet with one of our Water Safety Instructors/Masters Coaches to help jump start, motivate or invigorate your workout plan in the pool. If you have medical issues, a medical release from your doctor is required prior to scheduling. These sessions are only available for Weinstein JCC members.

Shallow Water Aerobics


This water aerobics class is great for adults looking for a fun, social, low-impact physical activity. During class you will perform various movements in shallow water to improve joint flexibility, range of motion and muscle strength. This is an instructor lead class; however, participants need to know personal limits and participate as they see fit. If you have recently had medical issues, a medical release is required before attending class. Please indicate any medical issues or limitations on your registration form.

Deep Water Aerobics


This water aerobics class is great for adults looking for a fun, social, low-impact physical activity. During class you will perform various movements in 8-10 feet of water to improve joint flexibility, range of motion, and muscle strength. Aqua belts are provided and are required to participate. This is an instructor lead class; however, participants need to know personal limits and participate as they see fit. Parent and Child Aquatics Level 1


Level 1 provides experiences and activities for children to: learn to ask for permission before entering the water, enter and exit the water safely, feel comfortable in the water, explore submerging to the mouth, nose and eyes and fully submerging, explore buoyancy on the front and back position, change body position in the water, learn how to play safely, experience wearing a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket and learn age-appropriate water safety skills.

Parent and Child Aquatics Level 2


Level 2 builds upon the skills learned in Level 1 and provides experiences and activities for children to: establish expectations for adult supervision, learn more ways to enter and exit the water safely, explore submerging in a rhythmic pattern, glide on the front and back with assistance, perform combined stroke on front and back with assistance, change body position in the water, experience wearing a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket in the water and learn age-appropriate water safety skills.

Lunch & Fun Preschool Swimming Levels 1-3


Preschool-age children are taught basic aquatic safety and swimming skills, all the while increasing their comfort level in and around the water. Skills are age-appropriate, helping children achieve success on a regular basis and enjoy social interactions with other children. As in all swimming and water safety courses, safety is first.

Level 1: Learn to Swim


This class is for the first-time swimmer that doesnít know how to swim. Skills to be taught in this level include: entering and exiting the water, blowing bubbles, bobbing, opening eyes underwater and retrieving submerged objects, front and back gliding, back floating, rolling from front to back and back to front, treading water, alternating simultaneous arm and leg actions on front and back, combining arm and leg actions on front and back and age-appropriate water safety topics.

Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills


This class is for the child who can swim independently and has not mastered his/her stroke techniques. Skills to be taught include: entering and exiting the water, submerging, bobbing, opening eyes underwater and retrieving submerged objects, front, jellyfish, and tuck floating, front kicking and gliding, back kicking and gliding, rolling from front to back and back to front, rotary breathing, treading water, combining arm and leg actions on front and back and age-appropriate water safety skills.

Level 3: Stroke Development


This class is for the more advanced swimmer. It builds on Level 2 skills through additional guided practice in deeper water. Skills to be taught include: entering the water, headfirst entries, bobbing while moving toward safety, rotary breathing, back and survival floating, changing from vertical to horizontal position on front and back, treading water, flutter and dolphin kicking on front, scissors and breaststroke kicking, front crawling, elementary backstroke and age-appropriate water safety.

Level 4: Stroke Improvement


This class is for the more advanced swimmer. It builds on the skills in Level 3 through additional guided practice, and helps swimmers develop confidence and endurance. Skills to be taught include: headfirst entries from the side in compact and stride positions, swimming underwater, feet-first surface diving, survival swimming, open turning on front and back, treading water using two different kicks, front and back crawling, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, butterfly, flutter and dolphin kicking on back and age-appropriate water safety topics.

Dolpholinas Synchronized Swim Team & Clinic


This unique team teaches girls synchronized swimming skills, sportsmanship and, most importantly, teamwork. Participants compete in local, regional and national meets. Level 1 orients children to the aquatic environment and helps them gain basic aquatic skills.
