It’s also the home of the Dolphin Club Summer and Winter Swim Teams.

Reservations are required. Click here to reserve your time. JCC members are able to reserve one lane per day for 30 minute increments for up to 1 hour. Swimmers of the same household are permitted to share a lane. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Myles Phelps at (804) 545-8640 or mphelps@weinsteinjcc.org

Kept at between 84 and 88 degrees (with a set point of 86 degrees), the Sternheimer Recreational Pool includes two waterslides, a lazy river, a sitting area with whirlpool-like jets, a mushroom waterfall, and lemon drop and wall sprays. Programming includes recreational play for all ages, instructional swim lessons, Aqua Zumba and shallow water fitness.

Reservations are required for recreational swim. We allow up to 20 participants per 30 minute reservation. Please be sure to make your reservation beforehand to ensure we have space for you and that your desired swim time doesn’t conflict with any of our scheduled swim programs. Pre-Fins Group

Practice Recommendations
2 practices a week are recommended but not required. Each practice session lasts 45 minutes. Swimmers can expect to work up to swimming 500 to 1,000 yards per practice session.

Pre-requisite for the Pre-Fin Group
Able to complete a 25 yd freestyle and backstroke without assistance

Pre-fins is a great way to keep your child active this year while introducing them to the Dolphin Club swim team program! Practices are run as a hybrid between a swim team practice and group swim lessons. This gives the swimmers more personal attention from our coaches to improve their strokes, while also giving them a taste of the competitive swimming world. We will be holding fun intra-squad meets at the JCC throughout the year. The Pre-Fins program emphasizes learning, fitness, and fun!

Pre-Fin swimmers will learn the basics of all 4 competitive strokes in an encouraging atmosphere.  The coaches focus on teaching proper stroke techniques, introducing starts and turns, and developing a joy of swimming using games, activities, and challenges. The interpersonal skills necessary to compete in the sport of swimming also will be taught – working with teammates, following directions, listening to the coaches, and having fun!
