Meditation in Motion: For anyone who wants to improve their physical, emotional and even spiritual balance. This program was designed by an Australian family physician and a team of medical and tai chi experts to help people with arthritis and fibromyalgia. It has been clinically proven to reduce joint pain and stiffness, to improve balance, to reduce falls and to build up cardio-vascular function, muscle strength and stamina. Despite its famous super-slow, body moves, it will give you a workout and it belongs to that group of exercises designed for “fascia fitness.” And for those who have trouble sitting still, it provides a wonderful moving meditation practice. Based on Sun style tai chi, it is different from some tai chi forms you might be familiar with. It’s kinder to your joints and its emphasis is on balance, agility, breath work and inner calm. Most of all, it is about becoming more aware of and more connected to one’s body. No equipment or special gear required--just comfortable clothes and a good pair of socks. You don’t have to have arthritis to benefit and anybody can learn to do it.
